I doubt very much the Book of Mormon was racist, but the question is why were so many Christian Churches racist up until 1964.... what's up with Christianity pretending they were never discriminating or showing prejudice against people of other races. Look to your own offensives before pointing to others... chuckle.

Could you point out some examples

Blacks were not allowed into some christian churches or had to stand in the back to worship... hmmm... one example I will give is about the Episcopalians... there are many more stories on other denominations of separating the blacks and whites in church worship...

The debate about black Episcopalians came to a head when in 1882, a group of white clergy and lay leaders met in Sewanee, Tennessee for a conference. With the rise of black Episcopal churches, white southerners began to fear that a black clergyperson or bishop might lead white parishioners one day. After different efforts to block black churches from being full members in southern diocese, the group at Sewanee decided that black people should worship separately and permanently remain under the authority of a white bishop. Black Episcopal leaders immediately resisted this measure and it did not pass at convention; however, southern diocese moved independently to creaate ‘separate but equal’ Colored Conventions where black congregations had limited power.
If we acknowledge some Christian churches were racist, are you willing to acknowledge that Mormonism has a long history of racism, including excluding blacks from the priesthood as recently as the late 70s?

Churches don't save. Your pretending that the Book of Mormon wasn't racist won't change the facts. The Bible has always been non-racist regardless of churches.

The1961 racist Book of Mormon is obsolete. Either it had been falsely interpreted or apostate Mormons are running the church. Or the whole BoM is a farce.

Wow! culture changes slowly and pretending your living in a more enlightened society is a fallacy... today the common word is that you're a racist or white white supremist without any regard to narrative, context and situations.

Gripe all you want and ignore history, it is what it is and times have changed.... Even the Bible can be consider racist by our standard today... grow up.

Those are EDIT statements that don't in the least refute my post.

I haven't said anything about today's society. I'm talking about the obsolete Book of Mormon; if it was the most correct of any any book on earth as Joseph Smith claimed it wouldn't have been racist. If it actually was the word of God it wouldn't need corrections in the 1970s.

How is it racist compared to our time we live in compared to the time of the Bible and Book of Mormon.... is the Bible racist?

The bible teaches that God made all humanity in his image, and calls for Christians to oppose racism of any kind.
How do you understand that as a women? Critics would call that racism.... hmmm

The Bible isn't racist, but Mormons like their own lies. God is not a man.

Predestination is racist.... discriminatory, prejudiced , bigoted.
Isn't God Sovereign
Romans 9

18 So you see, God is kind to some just because he wants to be, and he makes some refuse to listen.
19 Well then, why does God blame them for not listening? Haven't they done what he made them do?
20 No, don't say that. Who are you to criticize God? Should the thing made say to the one who made it, "Why have you made me like this?" 21 When a man makes a jar out of clay, doesn't he have a right to use the same lump of clay to make one jar beautiful, to be used for holding flowers, and another to throw garbage into? 22 Does not God have a perfect right to show his fury and power against those who are fit only for destruction, those he has been patient with for all this time? 23-24 And he has a right to take others such as ourselves, who have been made for pouring the riches of his glory into, whether we are Jews or Gentiles, and to be kind to us so that everyone can see how very great his glory is.

Richard7 is definitely Criticizing God

You adhere to a religion built on lies and prejudice worshipping false gods and like Joseph Smith hate Christianity and God. So do you think you can suck people into Mormonism by mocking the truth?

No, Its not my doctrine of Predestination for exactly that reason, God is not racist but chosen or predestined is racist and we don't teach it, hence God is love for all his children, not the few... chuckle. Your interpretation of scripture is racist... hmm

Not all are his children even in Mormonism. Not all are allowed in the temple or the Celestial kingdom.

  • "Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be." (D&C 93:29). ... God himself, finding he was in the midst of spirits [i.e., unorganized intelligences] and glory, because he was more intelligent, saw proper to institute laws whereby the rest could have a privilege to advance like himself. The relationship we have with God places us in a situation to advance in knowledge. He has power to institute laws to instruct the weaker intelligences, that they may be exalted with himself, so that they might have one glory upon another, and all that knowledge, power, glory, and intelligence, which is requisite in order to save them in the world of spirits. (Teachings Of Presidents Of The Church: Joseph Smith [2007], p.210)

Adopted into the Family of God Is Necessary to Become As God

John Taylor (1808-1887) - President

A man, as a man, could arrive at all the dignity that a man was capable of obtaining or receiving; but it needed a God to raise him to the dignity of a God. For this cause it is written, “Now are we the sons of God; and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that when he shall appear we shall be like him.” And how and why like Him? Because, through the instrumentality of the atonement and the adoption, it is made possible for us to become of the family of God, and joint heirs with Jesus Christ; and that as He, the potential instrument, through the oneness that existed between Him and His Father, by reason of obedience to divine law, overcame death, hell and the grave, and sat down upon His Father’s throne, so shall we be able to sit down with Him, even upon His throne. (Mediation and Atonement [1882], pp. 145-146)

AND it came to pass that Enoch continued his speech, saying: Behold, our father Adam taught these things, and many have believed and become the sons of God, and many have believed not, and have perished in their sins, and are looking forth with fear, in torment, for the fiery indignation of the wrath of God to be poured out upon them. (Moses 7:1)

Does the Bible believe in a Heavenly Mother? why not? is the bible racial bigot, racialist, xenophobe, chauvinist, supremacist.
Well we say there is a Heavenly Mother and we don't teach misogynist prejudice doctrine.

The Bible is a book. Books don't have the capacity to believe. Heavenly Mother is a lie about God. Teaching and promoting lies is evil. All liars go to hell for eternity.

Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
