The whole point of this is being like the Father in loving enemies (as exemplified in Him bringng sun and rain to his enemies).

Not according to some . They forget that while we were yet enemies Christ died for us . Ephesians chapter 2

The one who believes in Him is not judged; the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light; for their deeds were evil. Jn 3:18-19

I don't see love toward unbelievers in that verse...

Israel was elected to service not salvation
