Hello

I direct your Attention to
Acts 10:44-48

Why does Peter still baptize Cornelius with water after he receives the Holy spirit?

I am interested in reading the different takes.
it's an initiation ritual just like circumcision. It documents their acceptance into the church body.

After John had first preached, before His coming, the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

So if I understand you correctly, you died to the to the weak and beggarly elements, to belong to another, who was raised from the dead?

God raised Him from the dead....And we declare to you glad tidings—that promise which was made to the fathers. 33 God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm:
‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.’
And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, He has spoken thus:
‘I will give you the sure mercies of David.’ Acts 13:30-41

But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
And He gave some as apostles, some as prophets,...until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, ...
As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, ...
but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, that is, Christ; Eph 4

For in Christ Jesus neither initiation ritual means anything, but faith working through love. Galatians 5:5-6

It must have meant something, or they wouldn't have done it.

which results in them being baptized.
Which results in a new creation. And all who will follow this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God. Gal 6:14-16

Rather elegantly put - but accurate in essence. Gal 2:20
For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all time; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.
So you too, consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Rom 6:10-11

But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching
to which you were entrusted, Rom 6:17
Sonship Through Christ
Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, Gal 4:3-7
And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.
Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:35-36

The new creation is not created by human action, but by the hand of God. Thus being baptized in water is symbolic rather than transformative. It is as Christ pointed out a way to fulfill righteousness. Obviously Christ doesn't need to repent of sin, right?
And all who will follow this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God. Gal 6:14-16
Only those who have already been given a new heart can follow God's rules.

The new creation is not created by human action, but by the hand of God.
Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.
This is a faithful saying:
If we died with him, we will also live with him;
if we endure, we will also reign with him. 2 Timothy 2:10-12
Thus being baptized in water is symbolic rather than transformative. It is as Christ pointed out a way to fulfill righteousness.
Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules. 6 The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. 7 Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.
[Awake to righteousness]
Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel; 2 Timothy 2:5-8
Only those who have already been given a new heart can follow God's rules.
As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. Who have seen that the Lord is full of compassion and mercy. James 5:7-11

So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty.
For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. James 2

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You. Isaiah 26:3

Albeit not perfectly.
Let your requests be made known to God, with thankfulness; And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Phil 4

Indeed it is unrelated to having begun in the Spirit, and then trying to be made perfect by the flesh.
