As most of you are aware, we had a crash to forums and were down for over two days a while back. We did have to do an upgrade to the vbulletin software to fix the forums and that has created changes, VB no longer provide the hybrid or threaded forums. There are some issues/changes to the forums we are not able to fix or change. Also note the link address change, please let friends and posters know of the changed link to the forums. For now this is the only link available, https://forums.carm.org/vb5/ but if clicking on forum on carm.org homepage it will now send you to this link. (edited to add https: now working.

Again, we are working through some of the posting and viewing issues to learn how to post with the changes, you will have to check and test the different features, icons that have changed. You may also want to go to profile settings, since many of the notifications, information in profile, also to update/edit your avatar by clicking on avatar space, pull down arrow next to login for user settings.

Edit to add "How to read forums, to make it easier."
Pull down arrow next to login name upper right select profile, or user settings when page opens to profile, select link in tab that says Account. Then select/choose options, go down to Conversation Detail Options, Select Display mode Posts, NOT Activity, that selection of Posts will make the pages of discussions go to last post on last page rather than out of order that happens if you choose activity threads. Then be sure to go to bottom and select SAVE Changes in your profile options. You can then follow discussions by going through the pages, to the last page having latest responses. Then click on the other links Privacy, Notifications, to select viewing options, the forums get easier if you open all the tabs or links in your profile, user settings and select options. To join Super Member, pull down arrow next to login name, select User Settings and then click on tab/link at top that says Subscriptions.

Thank you for your patience and God Bless.

  • The Serpent deceived me

Genesis 3: 3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”

4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

    17 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat food from it
all the days of your life.

Then move to John 8: 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Then read Matthew 4: 1-11 I'm only posting one verse to give you an idea of what it is

Matthew 4: 4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’

OK, I printed a bunch of verses. Sorry about that, but I'm really insulted by a certain person who posts on the Lutheran Forum very often. It is strange but I have liked him most of the time. However, I have come to the conclusion that he is trying to deceive us. Like Bonnie says, I've answered that many times. Many of us have but it seems that he doesn't understand what we are saying. Did God really say that?

He twists what we say and makes strange replies to what we wrote.Continually, we can repeat what we said, I try to rewrite it to make it clearer but he doesn't ever seem to understand.
When he lies, he speaks his native language

Honestly, I am losing respect for him. We should be able to have an intelligent discussion but instead I'm tired of my words being twisted. I'm not perfect and I know I can make a mistake, but I'm not so bad that a person who has posted with me for years should have that much trouble understanding me.

When we go back to when Luther disputed with the Pope. Didn't the Pope do the same thing to Luther? Twist what Luther said, twist what he himself said and accuse Luther of not being a Christian?
Mark 9:24 Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

“Reason is a whore, the greatest enemy that faith has; it never comes to the aid of spiritual things,
but more frequently than not struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God.” ― Martin Luther

    Hi Thekla--

I had to chuckle, as the LDS say the same thing about the Lutheran which is on the Mormonism board--trying to deceive them. We answer her questions over and over--only to have the Lutheran post the same deception again.

You do realize that is the reason I am here--because we have a Lutheran on the Mormonism board attacking everything LDS?

So--how does that feel--to have your theology attacked?

Yes--you lose your respect after awhile.

I don't mind having my theology attacked. That is the reason this is called the Apologetic forums. I can understand that. What I don't like is having someone twist what I say.

Sometime that is just going to happen, because people don't always follow what another is attempting to say. You might mean one thing--and another person might interpret it as something else.

On occasion--it might be because we view things differently. I certainly don't agree with Lutheran theology--it's flat false, IMO--period.

But I do like Lutherans, as a rule. I never met one personally ---I didn't like.
