As most of you are aware, we had a crash to forums and were down for over two days a while back. We did have to do an upgrade to the vbulletin software to fix the forums and that has created changes, VB no longer provide the hybrid or threaded forums. There are some issues/changes to the forums we are not able to fix or change. Also note the link address change, please let friends and posters know of the changed link to the forums. For now this is the only link available, https://forums.carm.org/vb5/ but if clicking on forum on carm.org homepage it will now send you to this link. (edited to add https: now working.

Again, we are working through some of the posting and viewing issues to learn how to post with the changes, you will have to check and test the different features, icons that have changed. You may also want to go to profile settings,since many of the notifications, information in profile, also to update/edit your avatar by clicking on avatar space, pull down arrow next to login for user settings.

Edit to add "How to read forums, to make it easier."
Pull down arrow next to login name upper right select profile, or user settings when page opens to profile,select link in tab that says Account. Then select/choose options, go down to Conversation Detail Options, Select Display mode Posts, NOT Activity, that selection of Posts will make the pages of discussions go to last post on last page rather than out of order that happens if you choose activity threads. Then be sure to go to bottom and select SAVE Changes in your profile options. You can then follow discussions by going through the pages, to the last page having latest responses. Then click on the other links Privacy, Notifications, to select viewing options,the forums get easier if you open all the tabs or links in your profile, user settings and select options. To join Super Member, pull down arrow next to login name, select User Settings and then click on tab/link at top that says Subscriptions.

Thank you for your patience and God Bless.

    There is no "seat of Moses" mentioned anywhere in the Bible. And the aorist ἐκάθισαν literally means "have seated themselves" (cf. the rendition in the NASB), which hints at sarcasm. The Pharisees ("the separated ones") were a political party who had usurped the authority as interpreters of the Law. Nowhere in the Scriptures is it mentioned that God had given them that authority. Moreover, it is hardly likely that Jesus condoned the teaching of the Pharisees, given the fact that He repeatedly rebukes their interpretation of the Law in Matthew chs. 9, 12, 15, and 19. In Mark 7:19 it is even stated that Jesus "declared all foods clean", which runs counter to the dietary of laws of the Old Covenant. He also implies that they are bad teachers here:

    .
    johan says:
    Where does Jesus say that Christians are to submit to the bishop of Rome?
    He didn't, in fact he strictly forbid such;
    Matt.20:25
    Jesus called them unto him, and said,
    Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them,
    and they that are great exercise
    authority upon them.
    But it
    shall not be so among you:
    That is a direct commandment from Christ
    But it shall not be so among you:

    only those that keep his Commandments enter into the Kingdom;
    there are to be No Pope, no Rulers of the Synagogues,
    No Princes of the Church

    it shall not be so among the Church of Christ:

    johan says,

    Oh; but there is, most definitely;
    Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat
    but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
    that observe and do;
    All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe,
    and The Pharisee and the Scribes still set there,
    1990 years (approx) after Christ so stated, and they will set there till
    all is fulfilled,
    and you can find that in Exodus and confirmed by David in the Psalms

    I find it hard to beleive
    Christ mistaken when he acknowledged their position;
    Matt.23:1
    Then spake Jesus to the multitude,
    and to his disciples,

    Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
    All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe,
    that observe and do;
    but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
    so, johan;
    help me out here;
    why would Christ acknowledge The Seat of Moses,
    and who would set there,
    but then also, forbid his Apostles any Authority or Dominion

    Ahh, come on there Blackie, you don't really think
    The Pharisee and the Scribes have the truth,
    and teach the true Gospel

    Absolutely, with out a doubt; for certain;
    unequivocally Yes

    here let me quote it to you

    The Words of Christ

    Matt.13:52
    Jesus saith unto them,
    Have ye understood all these things?
    They say unto him,
    Yea, Lord.

    52 Then said he unto them,
    Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven
    is like unto a man that is an householder,
    which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

    Who was Instructed into the Kingdom of Heaven

    Let me ask the 2nd time

    Who was Instructed into the Kingdom of Heaven

    The ECF's ???? Nope, not one of them
    The Pope ???? Nope, not a one of 200 plus of them

    How about some Protestant Preacher --- Nope, none there either

    so who was "Instructed unto the Kingdom of Heaven"

    so where would I go if I want to know about
    The Kingdom of Heaven ?????

    Matt.13:52
    Jesus saith unto them,
    Have ye understood all these things?
    They say unto him,
    Yea, Lord.

    52 Then said he unto them,
    Therefore every scribe is like unto a man that is an householder,
    which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven

    which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
    Thats right, straight from the lips of Christ

    The Scribes, no one else was given that position

      I find it hard to believe
      Christ was mistaken, when he acknowledged a Seat of Moses
      and the position and Authority of who set there;
      Matt.23:1
      Then spake Jesus to the multitude,
      and to his disciples
      ,

      Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:

      that observe and do;
      but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not
      .
      The RCC claims Peter as the head of the Church,
      Scripture says different

      Paul, the Pharisee Speaks

      Acts 22:3
      I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia,
      yet brought up in this city
      at the feet of Gamaliel,
      and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers,
      and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.

      Acts 5:34
      Then stood there up one in the council,
      a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law,
      had in reputation among all the people,
      and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space
      ;

      and what did this Pharisee say ??????????

      And now I say unto you,
      Refrain from these men, and let them alone:
      for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

      39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it;
      lest haply ye be found even to fight against God
      .

      Ecc.12:11
      The words of the wise are
      as goads, and as nails

      Definition of goad
      something that pains as if by pricking : THORN
      something that urges or stimulates into action : SPUR

      (Pricks they are, to "GOAD" one to move)

      Ecc.12:11
      The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails
      fastened by the masters of assemblies,
      which are given from one shepherd
      .

      Now who was this Saul, this Pharisee;
      that set at the feet of Gamaliel

      Hey Saul,
      are the Pricks and Goads gettin to ya ????

      Acts 9:5
      And he (Saul) said, Who art thou, Lord?
      And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest:
      it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks

      Who was this Saul, this Pharisee;
      that set at the feet of Gamaliel
      ....

      Gal.1:15

      But when it pleased God,
      who separated me from my mother's womb,
      and called me by his grace,

      16 To reveal his Son in me,
      that I might preach him among the heathen
      ;

      The Scriptures say Paul, the Pharisee sets in the Seat of Moses
      and is head of the Church
      The RCC says different, and claims that for Peter
      and are guilty of this;

      Jude 1:11
      Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain,
      and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward,
      and perished in the gainsaying of Core
      .

      see Numbers Ch. 16:
      eventually the same Judgement will befall them also
      The scribes and the Pharisees

      (That would be Paul the Pharisee)

      sit in Moses' seat:
      All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe,
      that observe and do;
      The Scribes also set there
      Matt.13:52
      Jesus saith unto them,
      Have ye understood all these things?
      They say unto him,
      Yea, Lord.

      52 Then said he unto them,
      Therefore every scribe is like unto a man that is an householder,
      which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven
      which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old
      .
      Thats right, straight from the lips of Christ

      so who are the Scribes
      which have been instructed unto the kingdom of heaven

      that bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

      and they are not the ECFs which were nothing but
      a bunch of Waysiders

      But these speak evil of those things which they know not:
      but what they know naturally, as brute beasts,
      in those things they corrupt themselves.

      ////

      so who are the Scribes
      which have been instructed
      unto the kingdom of heaven

        Paul, the Pharisee now sets in
        The Seat of Moses
        Then said he unto them,
        Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto

        the kingdom of heaven
        So who were these Scribes
        that the Apostles were told were
        instructed by the teachers from the true Church
        Hebrews 12:22
        "............. mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God,
        the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

        23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn,
        and that ain't Rome
        "The Church of the Religion of the Romans"

        So who were these Scribes
        that would have these Keys / Knowledge of
        the kingdom of heaven
