As most of you are aware, we had a crash to forums and were down for over two days a while back. We did have to do an upgrade to the vbulletin software to fix the forums and that has created changes, VB no longer provide the hybrid or threaded forums. There are some issues/changes to the forums we are not able to fix or change. Also note the link address change, please let friends and posters know of the changed link to the forums. For now this is the only link available, https://forums.carm.org/vb5/ but if clicking on forum on carm.org homepage it will now send you to this link. (edited to add https: now working.

Again, we are working through some of the posting and viewing issues to learn how to post with the changes, you will have to check and test the different features, icons that have changed. You may also want to go to profile settings, since many of the notifications, information in profile, also to update/edit your avatar by clicking on avatar space, pull down arrow next to login for user settings.

Edit to add "How to read forums, to make it easier."
Pull down arrow next to login name upper right select profile, or user settings when page opens to profile, select link in tab that says Account. Then select/choose options, go down to Conversation Detail Options, Select Display mode Posts, NOT Activity, that selection of Posts will make the pages of discussions go to last post on last page rather than out of order that happens if you choose activity threads. Then be sure to go to bottom and select SAVE Changes in your profile options. You can then follow discussions by going through the pages, to the last page having latest responses. Then click on the other links Privacy, Notifications, to select viewing options, the forums get easier if you open all the tabs or links in your profile, user settings and select options. To join Super Member, pull down arrow next to login name, select User Settings and then click on tab/link at top that says Subscriptions.

Thank you for your patience and God Bless.

  • Catholics making up sins in confession?

I was having lunch with some former co-workers- 2 being members of the RCC and one raised in the RCC, and they commented that they routinely lied about the sins they committed while in the confessional.

It sounded sort of peculiar, although I had heard similar stories back in the day, so I checked it "online" today.

A leading member of the RCC of the rank of bishop, admitted to the exact same thing in the link below, so it apparently isn't just my infidel friends.

For Catholics and former Catholics, I don't have to hear that this kind of thing is not approved of- I can figure that out- but is it common in your experience? Members of the RCC just getting into the Cubicle of Confession and trying to impress the priest with made up stuff?

The poor ignorant Catholics actually think that the nice priest IS THE ONE WHO FORGIVES THEIR SIN!!!!!

SO if you can FOOL him into thinking that you're repentant, he'll do his "magic", and you're good to go!!!!!

"Bishop Kieran Conry admits lying in confession as a child as if it were a big joke rather than an abuse of the sacrament" And, then some people grow up while others prefer their own reality and become apostate.

Novus Ordite "Catholics" go to confession? Most Novus Ordite "Catholics" that I personally know, mostly work acquaintances, haven't been to confession in years.

*Sigh* How long must we endure these tabloid gossip threads?

The Church recognised that many people had become accustomed to coming into confession with an obligatory 'laundry list' which was not conducive to the intimate meeting with Christ with our remorse for sin. That is when the 'laundry list' was discouraged and face to face confession was offered as a way of reminding people that we are there with Christ.

It could be they're living a holier lifestyle and haven't committed a mortal sin in years.

That has to be it. If Mary could do it, so can others.

The number of saints in the RCC has certainly been increasing exponentially.

If you look at Papal Saints- 1 in the 13th Century, 1 in the 16th Century, and 4 already in the 20th Century with more in the oven.

If the canonization process is a fair measure of relative sanctity, sanctity is soaring to new thousand year highs.

Yes, I'm sure it's the holiness of the Novus Ordite "Catholics", most of whom believe in contraception, divorce and remarriage, sodomite marriages, fornication, and even abortion under some circumstances, in that they never commit any mortal sins that need confessing. Neither, apparently, do their clergy or hierarchy, since they are all "saints."

Hope you confess that to a priest before you pass. It might mean another fifty thousand years to purgatory.

The hilarious thing is the priest absolves them anyway. Hes utterly clueless. Now God, can't fool Him. When we confess directly to Him, He knows if we are truly repentant or not. Proving again that 'going' to confession is unbiblcial and quite the sham.
Eph 5:11 And do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them NASB

Where exactly does this 'intimate meeting with Christ' take place? Certainly not your priest. Jesus would never absolve someone blatantly lying about either the sins committed or the faux repentance would He? Plus, your sacrament is unbiblical in the first place.
