As most of you are aware, we had a crash to forums and were down for over two days a while back. We did have to do an upgrade to the vbulletin software to fix the forums and that has created changes, VB no longer provide the hybrid or threaded forums. There are some issues/changes to the forums we are not able to fix or change. Also note the link address change, please let friends and posters know of the changed link to the forums. For now this is the only link available, https://forums.carm.org/vb5/ but if clicking on forum on carm.org homepage it will now send you to this link. (edited to add https: now working.

Again, we are working through some of the posting and viewing issues to learn how to post with the changes, you will have to check and test the different features, icons that have changed. You may also want to go to profile settings, since many of the notifications, information in profile, also to update/edit your avatar by clicking on avatar space, pull down arrow next to login for user settings.

Edit to add "How to read forums, to make it easier."
Pull down arrow next to login name upper right select profile, or user settings when page opens to profile, select link in tab that says Account. Then select/choose options, go down to Conversation Detail Options, Select Display mode Posts, NOT Activity, that selection of Posts will make the pages of discussions go to last post on last page rather than out of order that happens if you choose activity threads. Then be sure to go to bottom and select SAVE Changes in your profile options. You can then follow discussions by going through the pages, to the last page having latest responses. Then click on the other links Privacy, Notifications, to select viewing options, the forums get easier if you open all the tabs or links in your profile, user settings and select options. To join Super Member, pull down arrow next to login name, select User Settings and then click on tab/link at top that says Subscriptions.

Thank you for your patience and God Bless.

  • the beatles were overrated

so my mom had a bunch of old beatles records she thought were worth gillions of dollars. i had to inform her the bad news that there are millions of them around and they arent that valuable unless they are in mint condition or unopened. it got me thinking of how popular they were. so many records, they were essentially a boy band with talent. they were great but ultimately they wrote pop songs. id say easily the best bands of all time

    1-led zeppelin
    2-pink floyd
    3-metallica
4-the beatles(even though im not a big fan)
    5-rolling stones

I stopped listening to the radio when the Beatles took over and '60s "rock and roll" died. There are the "Refreshments" though that do it the old way.

i wouldnt say top 5. they are an all time great band. the british and english really knew how to put out great music. america put out a ton of good bands in the 80s and 90s, but still its amazing how many good bands england and the british produced

what is the old way? elvis was considered rock and roll was never a big fan of his music. i guess its mostly black singers like chuck berry and little richard? decent stuff but it kind of all sounded the same to me.

The Beatles changed just about all aspects of popular music. They wrote their songs. They performed their songs. They, along with George Martin and Geoff Emerick, forever changed how recordings of all musical artists (except for full orchestra) was done. They were recording in multi-track before it was available by track bouncing. They had analog delay and doubling before anyone else used it. They married rock, Eastern, folk, pop, country, blues and orchestral music. They paved the way for the Prog bands like The Moody Blues, Yes and Genesis.

Many of the artists so many think were so great did not even play on their recordings and rarely wrote their own compositions. The Wrecking Crew - a set group of studio musicians, who played on the majority of pop and rock heard on the radio from the early 60's through the 70's, primarily, and beyond, played the instruments. For example, Glen Campbell did most of the guitar work on Beach Boys early albums with their best-known songs. Likewise he played guitar on Frank Sinatra recordings. The Monkees didn't play any instruments on their first three albums. Only Roger McGuinn played an instrument on the first couple of albums by the Byrds. The Wrecking Crew played them. They were not credited. Documentary movies and books have been released which detail how all of this came about. Tommy Tedesco is still the most recorded guitarist of all time. Tommy played banjo or mandolin if one was called for. Other guitarists, like Mike Deasy and Barney Kessel, did the same. Hal Blaine is the most recorded drummer of all time. Carol Kaye and Joe Osborn (who died about ten days ago) are the most recorded bassists of all time. Mike Deasy is now a preacher in East Texas. I correspond with him.

In England they had their own version of the Wrecking Crew. Vick Flick, who composed played the famous guitar line for James Bond movies, played on the records of all of the early British bands. Jimmy Page, of the Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin, and John Paul Jones, of Led Zeppelin, played on many of the early British pop and rock records but were not credited. John Paul Jones also engineered recordings.
Law makes a demand; Grace makes a provision.

                    Grace terrifies legalists.

I don't know much about the Beatles, It is a shock yes... Idk why but I never got a chance to listen to one of their songs. And back then I used to think that they might be not that big (I am sorry, just sharing). And after a while I just out of curiosity search who is the richest singer in the world? And, you can guess whose name Pops up. Paul McCartney Just from then on I searched everything about the Beatles. And I must say, I was a Stupid dumbass "@@@'
