As most of you are aware, we had a crash to forums and were down for over two days a while back. We did have to do an upgrade to the vbulletin software to fix the forums and that has created changes, VB no longer provide the hybrid or threaded forums. There are some issues/changes to the forums we are not able to fix or change. Also note the link address change, please let friends and posters know of the changed link to the forums. For now this is the only link available, https://forums.carm.org/vb5/ but if clicking on forum on carm.org homepage it will now send you to this link. (edited to add https: now working.

Again, we are working through some of the posting and viewing issues to learn how to post with the changes, you will have to check and test the different features, icons that have changed. You may also want to go to profile settings, since many of the notifications, information in profile, also to update/edit your avatar by clicking on avatar space, pull down arrow next to login for user settings.

Edit to add "How to read forums, to make it easier."
Pull down arrow next to login name upper right select profile, or user settings when page opens to profile, select link in tab that says Account. Then select/choose options, go down to Conversation Detail Options, Select Display mode Posts, NOT Activity, that selection of Posts will make the pages of discussions go to last post on last page rather than out of order that happens if you choose activity threads. Then be sure to go to bottom and select SAVE Changes in your profile options. You can then follow discussions by going through the pages, to the last page having latest responses. Then click on the other links Privacy, Notifications, to select viewing options, the forums get easier if you open all the tabs or links in your profile, user settings and select options. To join Super Member, pull down arrow next to login name, select User Settings and then click on tab/link at top that says Subscriptions.

Thank you for your patience and God Bless.

  • Born again and Spirit Filled. But no tongues

Hello, saved, Spirit Filled, for sure. But no tongues. What do you think is the problem with me. Sharing the truth is my message....why. not accept the truth, instead of the teachings of man.
Born From Above....Spirit Filled Christian.....that we may know how to behave in the house of God

    Hullo awitness.
Maybe your problem is that you think speaking in tongues is an essential requirement for anyone filled with the Spirit. Be absolutely 100% assured it isn't!

There is no "problem" with you. Speaking in tongues is NOT a requirement nor a proof of salvation.

When I got born again in a WoF church I did not speak in tongues, even though I wanted to. It wasn't until several months later during a service where an evangelist was teaching on the baptism of the Holy Spirit that it finally broke through. In my case it seems that because I'm always thinking to myself that my spirit was not able to break through and express its self. In that service my spirit was finally able to overpower my mind and I spoke briefly in tongues, then I was able to finally speak in tongues at any time I wanted.

Why do you think you have a problem? The only problem one every runs into is unbelief...The apostles were rebuked for that as well. What do you think Jesus meant when He said believers will speak in tongues? Do you believe they will? Or was he just kidding?

Jesus wasn't talking about Pentecostals. There's also legitimate doubt about the ending of Mark as it appears in the KJV.

Nope...He was talking about believers. If you're a believer, He was talking about you.

Wahahaha...there's always legitimate doubt if you can explain away what you don't want to believe. We have posters here who want to doubt whole books, and re-write the Greek/English dictionary. Problem is, Mark 16 is in the canon, has been in the canon, and was always a part of the canon.

So, the question is, how much of the canon have you granted yourself license to question and doubt? That will be a gauge as to how much faith in God's word you will allot yourself.

              Nice to meet you, btw.

                Word games -

IF you're Born again (saved) then you have received the INDWELLING SPIRIT with is fuzed with your Spirit, making you a Christian, and making the Kingdom of God visible to you just like He does with ALL Born Again Christians. When you became a Christian everything changed, and you were NEW, and different because of His Presence in you.

What's referred to by "Theologians" as "Being Spirit Filled" / Baptized in the "Spirit", etc. is what JESUS referred to as "Being endued with power from on high". It's the same as what happened in the OLD TESTAMENT when the Spirit would "Come upon" people, and enable them to do supernatural things (like Samson and the A$$'s jawbone). The Holy SPirit came upon Caiaphas the high Priest (while he was plotting to murder Jesus), causing him to prophesy - (John 11:50-51)

SO the QUESTION really isn't "Tongues" as much as "what have you been empowered to do" as a result of your "filling with the Spirit" that wasn't there before??? In my case, it was suddenly being placed in several intense Bible teaching ministries among Liberal Believers, and Catholics, which would have been impossible for me to do because of my own personal limitations.

Oh, and eventually I began to speak in "tongues", but NEVER in church, or in a group setting. I have been burdened many times to give Interpretation of other people's tongues, and to deliver prophetic utterance.

Sharing the truth is my message....why. not accept the truth, instead of the teachings of man.
                SO SHARE THE TRUTH!!

But the real question remains - you SAY you've been "Filled with the Spirit" - what changed in your life as a result of being "Endued with power from on high"??

Signs that follow a believer are not requirements...Tracks in fresh fallen snow are not a requirement for walking in the snow. They're just a result.

The question, and the operative term here is not signs, but believers. Just what exactly do you believe...and more appropriately, whom do you believe?

To me, a Pentecostal is like a Muslim, they might be good and sincere, but their typical theology puts them outside of what I consider the Christian faith (dispensationalism: why don't you deny Christ to make yourself one of God's chosen people, according to your theology) . And, indeed, a Muslim's faith is probably more sincere as their worship isn't a form of entertainment.

The KJV ending of Mark isn't in the oldest manuscripts. The KJV ending of Mark isn't written in the same style as the rest of Mark. The KJV ending of Mark has content not confirmed in the other Gospels or the rest of the Bible.

My red highlight: So, your whole argument against speaking in tongues is to be considered by all as bogus because it doesn't fit within "what I consider the Christian faith"?

Who elected you the arbiter of what is and is not the Christian faith? Personal opinion doesn't count.

God's apostles wrote that it's real, and they trump your opinions.

Who elected you arbiter[sic], besides the god of hypocrisy, that you should consider anything to be Christian faith but you don't think I should be allowed the same.

Pentecostals objectively disagreed with God's apostles, hence my opinion that follows.

And I could ask you the same thing: Who elected you arbiter? Why do you think your opinion is valid for any Christians?
