As most of you are aware, we had a crash to forums and were down for over two days a while back. We did have to do an upgrade to the vbulletin software to fix the forums and that has created changes, VB no longer provide the hybrid or threaded forums. There are some issues/changes to the forums we are not able to fix or change. Also note the link address change, please let friends and posters know of the changed link to the forums. For now this is the only link available, https://forums.carm.org/vb5/ but if clicking on forum on carm.org homepage it will now send you to this link. (edited to add https: now working.

Again, we are working through some of the posting and viewing issues to learn how to post with the changes, you will have to check and test the different features, icons that have changed. You may also want to go to profile settings, since many of the notifications, information in profile, also to update/edit your avatar by clicking on avatar space, pull down arrow next to login for user settings.

Edit to add "How to read forums, to make it easier."
Pull down arrow next to login name upper right select profile, or user settings when page opens to profile, select link in tab that says Account. Then select/choose options, go down to Conversation Detail Options, Select Display mode Posts, NOT Activity, that selection of Posts will make the pages of discussions go to last post on last page rather than out of order that happens if you choose activity threads. Then be sure to go to bottom and select SAVE Changes in your profile options. You can then follow discussions by going through the pages, to the last page having latest responses. Then click on the other links Privacy, Notifications, to select viewing options, the forums get easier if you open all the tabs or links in your profile, user settings and select options. To join Super Member, pull down arrow next to login name, select User Settings and then click on tab/link at top that says Subscriptions.

Thank you for your patience and God Bless.

  • Is this education?

Since its founding in 1930, Bryan College’s statement of belief, which professors have to sign as part of their employment contracts, included a 41-word section summing up the institution’s conservative views on creation and evolution, including the statement: “The origin of man was by fiat of God.” But in February, college officials decided that professors had to agree to an additional clarification declaring that Adam and Eve “are historical persons created by God in a special formative act, and not from previously existing life-forms.”
Christian College Faces Uproar After Bolstering Its View on Evolution

This statement rules out the Catholic position that the human body may have evolved, but Adam was the first to have a soul.
But is it true if it is not consistent with genetics etc?

One could also look at it from the religion angle. The title of the thread could be "Is This Religion?". You're looking at it from the view of religion impacting an educational stance, and find it troubling. I also look at as a view on science impacting religion, and find it troubling. Creationism has become a test for orthodox belief for some.

Four different Popes disagree with you - Pius XII, St. John Paul II, Benedict XVI, and Francis.

take no notice - outside of ex cathedra Popes have been known to say some foolish things but excathedra the Catholic teaching is that it is forbidden and anathema for Catholics to accept or teach 'Origins evolution as fact - see CCC327/Latern IV/Council of Cologne/Vatican I - Canon 1 - paras 4&5 - sadly not many Catholics seem to know or accept this - wincam

Here is a whole thread on the topic. Please note the exchanges between patrissimo and me. It's from a year ago; I'm surprised you didn't drag it up from the depths when you necromanced this one.

Let's Just Say, TM from another list, that your opinion is not that of the Church.

I have quoted you the teaching of the Church and your opinion is bogus so here it is again as 'simul et ex nihilo' at CCC327/LateranIV/Council of Cologne /Vatican 1...canon 1/paras 4 & 5 - btw via google see the article re 'The Catholic of Creation' at www.kolbecenter.org and via google [The Catholic doctrine of creation]Sungenis - wincam

The doctrine of Papal (and General Consilar) Infallibility was defined in 1870. The Council of Cologne (which was not a general council!) was, IINM 1860, or so. Therefore its pronouncements were not infallible.

Sungenis is a ... what? Certainly he has no theological or scientific standing.

Are you some sort of LeFevbrist?

Added in Edit: Here are two other threads, also from a year ago. Again, read the exchanges between me and patrissimo.

Sungenis is a blithering idiot. He's "not even wrong."

Your other cites are equally irrelevant and mis-represent the cirecumstances.
