As most of you are aware, we had a crash to forums and were down for over two days a while back. We did have to do an upgrade to the vbulletin software to fix the forums and that has created changes, VB no longer provide the hybrid or threaded forums. There are some issues/changes to the forums we are not able to fix or change. Also note the link address change, please let friends and posters know of the changed link to the forums. For now this is the only link available, https://forums.carm.org/vb5/ but if clicking on forum on carm.org homepage it will now send you to this link. (edited to add https: now working.

Again, we are working through some of the posting and viewing issues to learn how to post with the changes, you will have to check and test the different features, icons that have changed. You may also want to go to profile settings, since many of the notifications, information in profile, also to update/edit your avatar by clicking on avatar space, pull down arrow next to login for user settings.

Edit to add "How to read forums, to make it easier."
Pull down arrow next to login name upper right select profile, or user settings when page opens to profile, select link in tab that says Account. Then select/choose options, go down to Conversation Detail Options, Select Display mode Posts, NOT Activity, that selection of Posts will make the pages of discussions go to last post on last page rather than out of order that happens if you choose activity threads. Then be sure to go to bottom and select SAVE Changes in your profile options. You can then follow discussions by going through the pages, to the last page having latest responses. Then click on the other links Privacy, Notifications, to select viewing options, the forums get easier if you open all the tabs or links in your profile, user settings and select options. To join Super Member, pull down arrow next to login name, select User Settings and then click on tab/link at top that says Subscriptions.

Thank you for your patience and God Bless.

  • Humans could evolve webbed feet if sea levels rise

    Thanks Dr Matthew Skinner.

Alarmists and Darwinists share a moroon gene. The warmistas are in full panic. I think I will take a chance and confront more anti-intellectualism accusations before falling for this. (my yacht is intelligent designed (not evolved) and adapts to sea level rise.)

1922 they warned us about Arctic rapido warming and sea level rise.

So now the left must bring out their spin tools.

Watch Michael Phelps feet. His children. Is there a blow hole recessive gene? H-A? Gills H-A?

It was recently reported that journalism lost a lot of jobs this year, and again in July. After looking at this piece from the UK Telegraph, where the journalist couldn’t separate fantasy from reality, taking the word of a “scientist”, there’s no need to wonder why.

Our eyes would even become more like cats, so we could see in the murky gloom of seas and rivers and our lungs would shrink as we became used to using artificial tanks to breathe underwater.

“Regular underwater foraging would lead to the evolution of longer fingers and toes which would then likely develop ‘webbed’ interconnecting skin to enable easier swimming,” said Dr Skinner.

“We may evolve a tapetum lucidum, an additional layer in the retina, like cat’s eyes, that would improve our vision in low light conditions such as underwater.

“Due to the cold environment of being submerged in water regularly, we would maintain a layer of ‘baby fat’ into adulthood as an insulator.”
That explains the whale tales and blubber we see at the left wing protests.

Meanwhile in the real world inhabited by scientifically literate adults:

Glacial melting in Antarctica may become irreversible

Antarctica faces a tipping point where glacial melting will accelerate and become irreversible even if global heating eases, research suggests.

A Nasa-funded study found instability in the Thwaites glacier meant there would probably come a point when it was impossible to stop it flowing into the sea and triggering a 50cm sea level rise. Other Antarctic glaciers were likely to be similarly unstable.

Recent research found the rate of ice loss from five Antarctic glaciers had doubled in six years and was five times faster than in the 1990s. Ice loss is spreading from the coast into the continent’s interior, with a reduction of more than 100 metres in thickness at some sites.

The Thwaites glacier, part of the West Antarctic ice sheet, is believed to pose the greatest risk for rapid future sea level rise. Research recently published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences journal found it was likely to succumb to instability linked to the retreat of its grounding line on the seabed that would lead to it shedding ice faster than previously expected.
Oh, and the higher storm surge due to rising sea levels is getting ready to drown New Orleans again as tropical storm Barry approaches.

Tropical Storm Barry could bring 2 feet of rain, disastrous flooding to Louisiana

I guess to fools hiding in the basement the science and the real world effects of climate change don't matter.

A steady diet of Tender Vittles cat food wil effectively eliminate claws and fang teeth in no evolutionary time at all. Same with dogs. Feed them Alpo and they will eventually lose their fangs. It happened with humans. Somewhere we lost our fangs. And if you don't agree then you are anti-science and a flat earther.

There is a difference between adaptive changes that occur to remove features that are no longer needed but not harmful if retained (fang teeth), and adaptive changes that would be necessary for survival in a significantly changed environment. The first type of evolution generally occurs slowly, while the second can kill most of a population, retaining survivors with rare adaptive mutations.
