As most of you are aware, we had a crash to forums and were down for over two days a while back. We did have to do an upgrade to the vbulletin software to fix the forums and that has created changes, VB no longer provide the hybrid or threaded forums. There are some issues/changes to the forums we are not able to fix or change. Also note the link address change, please let friends and posters know of the changed link to the forums. For now this is the only link available, https://forums.carm.org/vb5/ but if clicking on forum on carm.org homepage it will now send you to this link. (edited to add https: now working.

Again, we are working through some of the posting and viewing issues to learn how to post with the changes, you will have to check and test the different features, icons that have changed. You may also want to go to profile settings, since many of the notifications, information in profile, also to update/edit your avatar by clicking on avatar space, pull down arrow next to login for user settings.

Edit to add "How to read forums, to make it easier."
Pull down arrow next to login name upper right select profile, or user settings when page opens to profile, select link in tab that says Account. Then select/choose options, go down to Conversation Detail Options, Select Display mode Posts, NOT Activity, that selection of Posts will make the pages of discussions go to last post on last page rather than out of order that happens if you choose activity threads. Then be sure to go to bottom and select SAVE Changes in your profile options. You can then follow discussions by going through the pages, to the last page having latest responses. Then click on the other links Privacy, Notifications, to select viewing options, the forums get easier if you open all the tabs or links in your profile, user settings and select options. To join Super Member, pull down arrow next to login name, select User Settings and then click on tab/link at top that says Subscriptions.

Thank you for your patience and God Bless.

  • District Court Says Detained Migrant Children Can't Be Sleep-Deprived, Must Get Soap

Detained migrant children must have access to soap and toothpaste, and cannot be deprived of sleep, a panel of federal judges ruled Thursday.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed a federal government appeal, which was the subject of a now-infamous hearing in which a government attorney argued that the requirement that children be afforded "safe and sanitary" conditions did not necessarily mean they needed to be given basic hygiene products. The government had appealed a 2017 decision by a lower court judge that a landmark 1997 settlement called the Flores Agreement required those items even though it did not explicitly list them.

During a June hearing, Justice Department lawyer Sarah Fabian argued that the Flores Agreement which set a nationwide standard for the treatment of migrant children in custody was vague and therefore, "it was left to the agencies to determine" what sanitation protocols to follow.

The judges appeared incredulous during the hearing.

"It's within everybody's common understanding: If you don't have a toothbrush, if you don't have soap, if you don't have a blanket, it's not safe and sanitary. Wouldn't everybody agree to that? Do you agree to that?" Judge Wallace Tashima asked Fabian.

Another member of the panel, Judge Marsha Berzon, grilled Fabian on the sleeping conditions for children spending the night on concrete floors in crowded, frigid, brightly-lit cells.

"You're really going stand up and tell us that being able to sleep isn't a question of safe and sanitary conditions?" asked Berzon, who wrote the court's dismissal.

In the ruling, she wrote: "Those determinations reflect a commonsense understanding of what the quoted language requires. Assuring that children eat enough edible food, drink clean water, are housed in hygienic facilities with sanitary bathrooms, have soap and toothpaste, and are not sleep deprived are without doubt essential to the children's safety."

So yeah, that's where we currently are as a country. A court has to literally order the government to provide soap and toothpaste and not deprive sleep from CHILDREN that they are holding in their (concentration) camps.

Federal stormtroopers out of control. Now they're mistreating children as though they are criminals?

I'll never forget that one BATF agent giggling on camera explaining how they were blaring noise into the Koresh compound and depriving them of sleep. We know how that turned out.

The hearing referred to was over a suit brought during Obama era...the CBS article makes no mention of it. The suit during the Obama era received I'd say...no press coverage really.

Nobody in the press cared until the word Trump was around, and the Trump admin has had to deal with very stressed conditions.

I don't take seriously the media interest.

It's not about Trump or Obama. It's about an oversized federal government trampling on people.

Yeah it is about trump or odumbo because we now have to listen to the whining from leftist but there wasn't a peep out of them when ostupido was doing this. Leftist doesn't give a spit about a single one the people in those detention centers. What they do care about is hating trump. Is quite disturbing to watch people who are this disingenuous. Decent Americans know the left is full of s***.

So we've got our first whataboutism.

Here's a clue, bud. I couldn't give two tiny little $hits who the suit was brought under, as I have long strongly condemned Obama's ICE policies, and the one who was arguing that the Trump admin didn't have to provide children with basic hygiene products or an environment where sleep was possible, was a Trump admin lawyer (who should frankly be disbarred). So take your whataboutism distraction attempts and stuff them and either address the topic, or get out.

You aren't quite right. The you are wrong, the caring is genuine. But you are also right that this is because of hatred of Trump.

The main difference is the spotlight. Those controlling the spotlight didn't care to look when Obama was in control. Once it became valuable to look for bad things they looked. They found stuff. They did not like what they saw.

People have a very strong ability be willfully ignorant of stuff until they are forced to look at it. However, once they are forced to look at it, they might not like what they see, and then care about it. It's the same reason why pro-lifer's use graphic pictures of abortions and fetuses.

The biggest disingenuous part is from hard-core partisans who want to pretend that these events suddenly started happening under Trump, or those that pretend that since it happened under Obama, Trump is not responsible now that he's in control.

Makes sense. The difference is the pro-lifers always care about the babies being killed. IF (and it's a huge if) the concern by leftists was genuine this issue would have gotten the same attention during odumbos term as it is now. Did it?

You know where we also are as a country? Its a bigger problem to use the wrong pronoun than it is to rip a baby from the womb. So yeah I'd say we're on course for the destruction leftist so eagerly want.

Please don't contribute to this troll's distraction and whataboutism attempts. I was just as much against it when it was Obama as when it was Trump. And spoke about it here on this forum in both instances. And in this case, it happens to be a Trump lawyer that was arguing that they didn't have to provide basic hygeine and a sleeping environment for KIDS, whose argument was overturned and soundly spanked by the district court.

Your lack of comprehension is not my problem. Again delusions of grandeur have led you to believe you are the boss. You should see someone about that. BTW thanks for making my point that the people whining over this don't really give a spit.

I agree, that's a big problem. So is this. Stop with the attempts to distract from the TOPIC. If you can't address it, go elsewhere.

If you want to talk about abortion or pronouns, go start a thread on that and I'll be happy to share my views there.
