    Number of links per post

I understand that we can post as many links to internal posts as we need to...no limit (well within reason, I suppose. ) However, the software doesn't 'see' the difference between a link to a post and an external link. I also understand that there is a way to get around that. Does anybody remember what it is?

    Thanks.

I'll try that and see if that works. It DOES strike a memory chord, at that. Here's hoping that when I try it I don't foul things up too badly!

there is nothing on either the super member subscription page OR the rules page that answers my specific question, about how to alter the url so that the software won't 'see' and block them when they are aimed at CARM forum posts. I DO remember a conversation about just that a couple (perhaps three or four? I forget...) months ago, and was hoping that someone else also remembered it. Thank you for your efforts. though.

You're welcome . Sorry I couldn't help. I searched yesterday for something and could not find it also. There are still things I don't know how to do on this site. .. You have a great week.

As most of you are aware, we had a crash to forums and were down for over two days a while back. We did have to do an upgrade to the vbulletin ...

I'm sorry, there is no such "message to all users' in red on the left side of the above link. Rule 29 is rather clear on the number of links allowed per post, and while it does warn that the software might 'see' the extra links and block the message, it is also very clear that one can, according to the rules, link to any number of CARM articles or forum posts.

I know that we have run into this before. I don't remember what was said about it, but there is, evidently, a work around. That is, a specific way of including the url's so that the software won't see them, but since they are internal, clicking on them will take you 'there' anyway.

Something about not including the "https://"???? Or something like that. I was hoping that someone remembered what it was.

No problem....if you post a lot of links to CARM posts or articles, it will go someplace where the mods will see it, and have to approve it. Once the post is approved, the post will go right back to where you had it originally. That is what happened to me, once, when I had 7 links to different posts on CARM in one post. The post disappeared, then reappeared--voila!-- 2 days later, approved. Diane told me this, when I wrote to her about it, years ago.

Sometimes the system will allow us to post three CARM links. But after that, one pushes one's luck. Unfortunately, the system doesn't always seem to work to filter out that wretched spam.
