One is through Mary and other through Joseph.
An unsaved person hates the word of God beucase it proves they are wrong.
Therefore they never search the scripture at all.

Saul called David his son. He was just a son in law. So David has a father and a father in law.
And David is the son of Jesse and the son-in-law of Saul.
It also can apply to adopted children.
And then there is the case that if a brother dies and leaves no heir, the eldest brother can marry the widow so that the dead brother has an heir.

The word of God has 2 purposes - to put people in heaven and put people in hell.

In Luke 3 do you see the phrase (as was supposed).
That is a clue that it is not Joseph. Heli is the father in law of Jospeh, aka Mary’s father.

So, you are interpreting those words as "Mary".

That is a human interpretation of the Bible, so it can be wrong. There are a lot of wrong human interpretations of the Bible out there; just look at the number of different Christian denominations there are.

So, unless your name is Francis, and you are posting from Rome, we don't have to believe you.

Biological and father in law.
Biological and adopted father.
Biological and that biological father’s dead brother if brother died before leaving an heir.

And technically there are 3 possibilities to show you have no proof.
But I believe Matthew is through Jospeh and Luke through Mark, Heli being the father in law of Joseph.
