Christianity: Friend or foe to science?

Many people, including Christians, see Christianity as science's foe. Christianity is seen as based on faith while science is based on carnal unbelief which can destroy faith in Christ. Needless to say, many people criticize Christianity for its perceived opposition to science. But is Christianity really a foe to science? Most Christian apologists answer with a resounding no. They cite the many great scientists who have been Christians as evidence that Christianity poses no threat to legitimate science. In fact, apologists see the rise of modern science as to Christianity's credit.

But what do you Christians say about Christianity in relation to science? Do you like science and have interest in its discoveries? Is science good or bad in your estimation? Do any of you fear science and see it as a threat to your faith? Are any of you scientists or plan to become scientists?

Answers would be greatly appreciated!

The very fact that evangelical christians deny evolution demonstrates they oppose science, even if they say they do not. Even Matt Slick will claim he agrees with science as long as science agrees with him. Which means to them science should be subordinated to evangelical christians whose ONLY authority is their own interpretations of scripture. They are not even scientists and have no clue how science works. Yet, by their actions they say, Science be damned!

What is the worst thing possible to see is evangelical christians being manipulated by atheists to shoot themselves in the foot.

What do I mean?

Christians have driven off into a ditch with regards to their position on evolution. Along comes the atheist sensing an opportunity begins to make fun of christians stuck in a ditch. Atheists are calling the world to stand around and mock christians stuck in a ditch.

But do evangelical Christians try to get out of the ditch? Nope. Instead they pat themselves on the back for being laughed at. The ditch is no ditch at all but instead becomes a badge of honor. The more the atheists laugh, the more the christians believe the ditch is where God wanted them to be. Right? Because if atheists are FOR evolution then christians MUST be against it, so they foolishly think. Consequently, the more atheists stand around and gawk the deeper the christians go into the ditch, driven by the jeers of atheists. It is sad to watch and futile. It is heartbreaking to watch.

modern science and 'civilization' describe the current world and invent solutions for this world's disabilities... every invention solves 'a problem' and creates new ones.

heaven has no need of science, different domain, and different physics and consciousness. science is a solution and 'god' to the flaws of this perishable world and this world is very dependent on it for all its needs and wants... science here describes this cosmology not heaven's cosmology that some ancients saw and described.

the mindset and consciousness of this world is cartesian and evolves, revolves, expands, being a result of the satanic consciousness that created it. not God created this world. christ affirms God did not create this world when Christ says he not from here.

heaven is not subject to the consciousness or physics of this foreign current world.

when people read ancient texts on these subjects they overlay what ancients describe about the other reality onto the current one which causes the problem.

Like Christianity -- science is a series of experimentation to reach a particular goal.

Most in Christendom faint before they reach that particular goal and fall short for an end product that God puts His perfections in man. Very few reach that goal of perfection. But a true Christian reached that goal and is Christ like no different from the anointing Jesus reached that goal in Matt 3:16. That is Gods goal who made me exactly as Himself. In that it is finished.

There is nothing wrong with science...interpreted correctly.

Many try to use science to knock God's Bible off of it pedestal. The evo's and uniformatarians come to mind.

Science is NOT as you say, a "god". You are parroting evangelical christian thinking who are opposed to science.

Science is nothing more than a MEANS to understanding the world we live in.

It is not "god", it is not opposed to god, it is not opposed to christianity. Science is ONLY a means to understanding how this material world works. That is it. If christians oppose science then they oppose understanding how this material world works. That is it. Nothing more, nothing less.

Many from your sect attempt to dislodge God by saying everything had a "natural" formation void of God.
Whe you are asked how an assembly line of organelle can evolve you have no answer....and come to the conclusion that the Words of God be damned.

Scientists do not interpret anything. Science tests and discovers facts and evidence regarding our material world. Only theologians interpret things, and they like to think that they can interpret science as they do their Bibles. It is the whole reason evangelicals are deeply imbedded in a ditch that they consider a badge of honor.

First of all, the Bible should not be on a pedestal. If it is then it deserves to be knocked off and replaced with what rightfully belongs there,...maybe God. Have you considered that?

Secondly, only atheists are using science erroneously to confuse Christians. Whereas scientists know science is a means to understanding the world we live in. If the atheist can persuade you that science opposes God then you guys will keep digging the ditch you are in. So far, their strategy has worked quite well since you apparently associate the facts of evolution with the devil. You cannot see how far you guys have fallen from reality. The further you fall from reality the more you think God is on your side. Nope, he left you guys to your folly a long time ago.

science on this earth is basically powers transferred illegally to this earth...functioning as a substitute which is ascribed near-infallibility as to method... sorcery. I do understand your point, practically, you mean simply being able to discern logically, and that I am not commenting on here...
let's not get religious you say ... right...
but every modern discipline arose after the greek view, from pythagoreanism... the egyptian religion, which was its meta-physics, its source and background... plato described the first law in Phaedo in proto form. And, atomism, as appearing in the greeks is continued in the alchemists such as descartes, newton, leibniz.... all of them were occultists and Descartes claimed his method arose from dream, from his other worldly muse. Oh and lets not forget Kant, another one of those, also obsessed with the 'seer' concept. Of course.

and by the egyptian religion I mean in the other world described in hieroglyphs, where with glee is recounted robbing eden to create the current reality. I do not mean the diluted mimic we find here in BC history.

in the other world, and in the ancients of our past, the knowledge of course was of a different magnitude, not the modern pathetic version... the fallen angels had adam's help, because as a traitor he gave them every blueprint of eden and from those adam and they (esau) created this current mimic dystopia.. this cosmos.

of course science describes this material world, after all it is THEIR mimic world, they made it... and continually try to get us to merge it into God's world and His creation and continually try to prove that this one they made IS the real and only one.

FAIL.

Yes, I have considered that...I also realize God built the pedastal and placed the Word of God on it.
Your sect wants to remove this truth and send it to the garbage heap.

I don't disagee....scientist study the geological record and formation, fossils etc. and have shown they are a result of a world wide flood. Many book, articles and lectures have been presented to show this id you would like to search for them and learn the truth.

The bible informs us "man" was made in Gods image....Adam formed from the dust then Eve from Adams rib (side).
The devil tells us there was no God to form man...it was all natural.

No, God hasn't left the Christian as you claim...but it's your demonically inspired scientist that have left God concerning the creation of man.

God allowed iniquity to become full and soon will restore us to our land and per prophets, this one will pass.

Science has nothing to do with Egyptian hieroglyphs. But you inevitably turn any subject around to be about Egyptian hieroglyphs? It is like your mind is stuck in some college class you took twenty years ago.

Even if I concede for the sake of argument that this material world is not the final destination of all pious, virtuous souls, nevertheless, it is the world in which we live now, and any understanding of how it works should help us make it a better place. In this case, science is a useful tool, a friend to the virtuous soul, when used for good. Who would not want to know what causes infectious diseases and how to cure them? Science does that and more! Who would not want to know how to intensely farm food to feed the world? Science does that and more! Therefore, as long as God has decided we must live in this material world then it is our duty to understand it and make the best of it. Science does that and more!

science is in the midst of poisoning all growing things on earth with its obssessed failed mRNA.

by god @docphin5 I see you follow and refer to adam

so adam s decree God's souls must live here is NOT binding on us even if it is on you by your own choice.

God left truth deniers a long time ago. Some Christians understand evolution is true. you can sort out which group you belong to.

the problem is not whether it is true on this earth.

it is (though the platonic solids have an angle in this.)

but it is not true in the REAL world of which this one is but an ugly copy thanks to adam betraying God and joining the fallen angels.

that is a question with a complex answer which I don't care to go into. All I will say is that Paul calls Jesus the last "Adam" so there is an association between the son of God and Adam. But it is complicated and would require a page to explain (possibly a book to explain). Something irrelevant to this OP.

true, evolution has no place in the FUTURE kingdom that virtuous souls are promised, but it does have its place in this one, for without it there would be no us. Evolution is one of many mechanisms by which nature produced the intelligence in humans. Arguably, moral intelligence comes from a moral God too. But that requires a long explanation, something that evangelical christians are not even considering to their shame.
