My observation is that the original COVID strain had the characteristics of an ethnic-specific bioweapon; it left China some of its immediate neighbors (e.g. Taiwan and Vietnam) virtually untouched while it spread rapidly in the US and Europe. Only in January 2022 did we find out that US and Wuhan scientists had submitted a 2018 DARPA proposal for research to create new bat coronaviruses with the many characteristics of COVID.

The false narrative created by Fauci and friends that COVID had to have natural origin was an obvious fabrication, and the silence from those who knew of the DARPA proposal was a lie of omission. In my opinion, the most likely explanation was that the virus was created and released with at least tacit approval from officials in Washington, and a likely purpose was to prevent the reelection of Donald Trump.

Taiwan saw almost no COVID cases or deaths with the original variant. It saw a few cases with new variants in 2021 and large numbers of cases and deaths with the arrival of the omicron variant in June 2022. The change was not because people in Taiwan forgot how to wear masks.

The same sort of thing was true for Vietnam and mainland China.

The logical conclusion is that Taiwan had herd immunity to the original variant, but the US did not. Taiwan saw a serious outbreak only after the development of new variants that bypassed the immunity to the original variant.
