During the debate, around 2:30, Steve was asked the question concerning the Canon of the NT. Steve response was that the writings of the NT are self authenticating because of there Godly attribute that is unique to those writings and not so with other ancient writings.

Self authentication of scripture?? Really?? We can be certain that the writings are inspired because of the Godly attribute within scripture that is unique to that about from every other ancient writings?? Really?? That is how we know that the writings are the inspired word of God??

So if that is nCCs's way of knowing what is and isn't the inspired word of God then why can't Catholic's use the same standard about the Catholic's Marian doctrines? Of all the people that have lived and will live, Mary was unique. She was God's chosen vessel to bring his Son into the world. Hence she has Godly attributes too. So from this we can discern Mary's IC, PV......

"Hence she has Godly attributes too."

Tell us, what are some of the Godly attributes that Mary processes?

Being God's chosen vessel to bring his son into the world it would be a given that she would have Godly attributes just as it is a given that, scripture being the inspired word of God, would have Godly attributes.

PTW, Steve didn't really tell us what the Godly attributes of scriptures were as compared to other ancient writings.

That's what I am asking:
hat are some of the Godly attributes that Mary processes?

Protestants for whatever reason think that "self-authentication" is an argument. That the Scriptures are Theopneustos is a Faith based claim, not a scientific claim. We recognize the Scriptures as Theopneustos based on Faith---not any objective, recognizable fact about them. If what is to be received as that which is Theopneustos was so obvious and clear, why did it take the Church 300 years to delimit the NT? Why was Revelation not universally received?

But, let's assume for the sake of argument that the argument is correct. We know the Scriptures becasue they are self-authenticating. By that logic, we could also argue that the Catholic Faith is self-authenticating. The RCC was founded by God, therefore, the church is self-authenticating.

Protestant fundamentalists only say this to try and do an end-run around the Church, and the fact that the reason they even have a 27 book NT is because of the Church.

AMEN! You see why the argument that the Scriptures are self authenticating is a stupid argument.

Excellent point!

Thanks for your response. The nCCs more the goalposts when it comes to Christian doctrines. The same standards don't apply to all Christian doctrines.

Is God the father of Mary?
In the sense that God is the Father of everyone, God is the Father of Mary, yes.

Now, is there a point to your question? I am sure you weren't just asking the question becasue you don't know the answer. There is a reason you asked this question. What point are you attempting to make?
