What does MAGA want from the next President?

That is because you are brainwashed.

Talking points. Biden can end it all in a minute.

No he does not. He needs to cancel his policies facilitating open borders at the beginning of his term. What he ran on and allegedly got 81+ million votes. ?

That is all boilerplate. Biden can close down the borders with a stroke of a pen. Ignoring facts do not make them go away. Passing another so-called law is a dead end since they do not enforce laws already on the books. Biden is violating US law with his open border policies. He should be arrested and tried. Biden even stopped Trump-initiated policies of DNA tests for minors and alleged parents. A third were not DNA matches with the adults claiming they were the parent. Biden is facilitating the smuggling of minors across our borders and into the interior. They are colluding with the drug cartels in human smuggling operations and that includes minors. Not to mention all the drugs including fentanyl. It is all Biden.
What policies favor open borders? Specifically what laws are not being followed.
"open borders" is a RW talking point with no basis in fact.
Biden cannot fully close the border without the resources to do that.

Note that Republicans have been calling for years for new legislation to fix the border problems. Well, so where is that legislation?

You said Grassley said he wouldn't pass the border bill and then link me to comments about a tax bill. You seem confused.
You are right.

Here are comments from other Republican leaders on the need for Congress to deal with immigration. From Speaker Johnson:

America is the most compassionate nation in the world, but our immigration system is broken. Reforming that system is a job for Congress, and any balanced legislative approach must include measures to strengthen border security,” Johnson said. “This bill will help ensure that our asylum system is reserved for those truly seeking refuge in America from violence or persecution.

From two other Republican leaders:

Rep. Steve Scalise, 7/11/19: “This is a broken system that needs to be fixed. It takes congressional action, you need to change the law. President Trump has identified that he wants this solved. We need to get it solved.”

Former President Donald Trump,11/1/18: “The only long-term solution to the crisis, and the only way to ensure the endurance of our nation as a sovereign country, is for Congress to overcome open borders obstruction.

Republicans need an issue to run on, and they have settled on immigration, so they cannot very well allow Congress to pass a bill to fix the problem. Even a problem they claim is a major crisis.

You are right.

So no Republican said they were going to vote against the bill because it would make Biden look good. Thanks for admitting you lied.

What the republicans are saying is FACT. This is an issue for Congress. Furthermore, Biden could reinstate Trump's border policies and make a difference starting TODAY. It is the Democrat politicians who want to pretend they're fixing the border problem they encouraged for the last 3 years and stupid democrats are falling for it.

The details of the current bill have not been released, as far as I can tell.

If you think otherwise, can you link to the bill or a listing of its provisions?

How can Repubs reject a bill they have not seen?
Maybe they are following Nancy Pelosi's lead when she said she would vote for Obamacare to find out what is in it.

You said Republicans said they were going to vote against the bill because it would make them look good in the next election.

Nothing in the article quotes them saying this or even suggests this.

So, you lied again, as usual.

Obamacare has been great for America. You’re being lied to, and you don’t have the facilities to realize that.
As a Brit I lean towards being in favour of Obamacare, though it seems Biden has made pro-choice abortion his key policy, and the 'trans' child abuse cancels out Obamacare

As usual you are avoiding the point.
OK. I certainly wouldn’t want to be mistaken for behaving like you people.

“As can be seen, it's true that Pelosi did utter these words: "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it". However, the article left out important context, including the next few words of Pelosi's statement: "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy."

Republicans have made it clear that opposition to the bill is based on the need to keep immigration as an issue which they think would help Trump. This is clearly true.

“The border is a very important issue for Donald Trump. And the fact that he would communicate to Republican senators and Congress people that he doesn’t want us to solve the border problem — because he wants to blame Biden for it — is really appalling,” Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, told reporters.
“The American people are suffering as a result of what’s happening at the border,” he said. “And someone running for president ought to try and get the problem solved, as opposed to saying, ‘Hey, save that problem! Don’t solve it! Let me take credit for solving it later.’”

Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., urged his colleagues not to make it all about politics at the behest of another candidate.
“I didn’t come here to have the president as a boss or a candidate as a boss. I came here to pass good, solid policy," Tillis said. “It is immoral for me to think you looked the other way because you think this is the linchpin for President Trump to win.”

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., in a private GOP meeting, outlined the political difficulties facing the emerging deal on immigration and foreign aid, including opposition from Trump as he cruises to the Republican presidential nomination. The belief among some conservatives is that preventing an agreement will cause voters to blame President Joe Biden for a chaotic situation at the border, even though he has endorsed the negotiations.

“Let me tell you, I’m not willing to do too damn much right now to help a Democrat and to help Joe Biden’s approval rating,” Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Tex.) told CNN of the emerging border legislation.

Much of what Trump tried to do at the border was rejected by the courts as illegal/unConstitutional. And some of what he did was immoral, like separating little kids from their parents and keeping no records of where the family members were sent.
