The world's most trusted evaluator of medical studies, the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, has just released as close to a conclusive report on the effectiveness of masks against respiratory viruses such as COVID-19 as we are likely to have for the foreseeable future. The report assessed data from 78 different studies, including 11 new randomized controlled trials involving 610,872 participants.
In the words of one of the authors, Dr. Tom Jefferson of Oxford University, Cochrane concluded, "There is just no evidence that they (masks) make any difference. Full stop."
Among the reasons for that assessment was Cochrane's conclusion that states and countries with mask mandates fared no better than states and countries without.
Moreover, Dr. Jefferson's conclusions were not limited to cloth and surgical masks. Regarding N95 masks, Jefferson said, "Makes no difference -- none of it."

On March, 8 2020 — Dr. Anthony Fauci advised healthy Americans against wearing face masks.

In April 2020 — The CDC said Americans should be wearing masks for the COVID.

In May 2020 — Dr. Anthony Fauci and the New England Journal of Medicine have admitted that masks are little more than symbols. Virtue signaling.

On January 25, 2021 — Dr. Fauci told healthy Americans to wear two masks instead of one.

On January 31, 2021 —This weekend Dr. Fauci backtracked on that insane idea of wearing multiple masks.

Where's the study?
 
Every public medical facility in Colorado that I walk into requires a mask. It doesn't matter if you are an ultra-leftist socialist communist, or an ultra-rightist racist favoring totalitarian rule, or simply a common centerist that doesn't want either - everyone wears a mask or you will be asked to leave.

They are crazy. Our largest local group of Family Practice docs has had masks at their entrance for years before fauchee fru.

That report is nowhere near conclusive.

Of the 78 studies compiled for that report, only 6 were done during the covid pandemic. More importantly, the Cochrane study incorrectly combined studies where people wore masks or respirators infrequently with those where masks were worn all the time, and they also did not distinguish between the effectiveness of ill-fitting cloth or surgical masks and N95 respirator masks.

It has also been noted that during the last 3 years, when social isolation and masking have been common, the incidence of flu and other respiratory diseases have fallen.

Now that masking and other precautions are being abandoned, the covid infection rate and death rate has gone up.

Most have questions on cleanliness and percieved efforts to protect customer "safety" what ever that is and some Karen would throw a hissy fit so they just do it.

They understand marketing. 15% of the population is involved with 85% of the healthcare related business in America. The offices have an e-mail in my mail before I get home from my annual wellness chat. We talk about racing, running and mountain biking.
They have a page of questions about staff showing care with masks, cleanliness etc. karens would have a kniption fit if we sat in the waiting room without masks. Some of what we see is pandering to hypochondriacs.

I've had Karens literally come running after me for not wearing a mask.....I even had one accuse me of watching Fox News. One of them after reading me the riot act looked down to fill out paperwork and their mask was so loose I could look down the side and literally see their nostrils "flaring"...

Idiots.
