What is God proclaiming in these scriptures?

Is it what "God" proclaims or what "we say" that believers are to believe? because according to what "God" proclaims; "the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us ('believers') from all sin". So, is His proclamation here that "the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin" and "he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" OR that we are sinners even after we become believers?

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— 2 the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us— 3 that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.
5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 John 1-10

This is an example of the Hebrew (Semitic) writing style called contrasts. In this case it is light vs. darkness and was to his congregation to check themselves. Verses 6, 8 and 10 are without God, so they sin and are in darkness. Verse 9 is "how to become a Christian" which 6, 8 and 10 have not done. Only verse 7 is a true Christian and walks in the light. The middle of verse 7 shows they have "fellowship with one another." That refers to forgiving each other trespasses done against one another causing hurt feelings, Matthew 6:14-15. Jesus teaches unity and oneness. John 17

The myth of verse 9 being a never ending cycle of sin, repent, sin, repent, sin, repent, ad infinitum is what the modern church teaches. No, verse 9 is to receive God inside of us and His power keeps us from sinning again, just like Acts 2:38. 1 John 3:9 is the result.

It is not possible to be perfectly sinless or never having committed one blunder this side of heaven. But as true and genuine believers we desire in our hearts to live clean and wholesome lives. A person who professes to never blunder (sin), is not only lying to themselves but to others around them. The theme of 1 John 1 is that genuine fellowship not only with God is important, but also with other Christians, and that God's work in us is ongoing (sanctification) our entire lives. John makes a distinction between the occasional blunders committed and the ongoing lifestyle reminiscent of an unregenerated person who professes to be a Christian.

John has much concern for some of the Christians to whom his letter is addressed to; for he didn't want them to become influenced by those of whom were teaching heresy. He begins with reminding his readers of the fact that he and the other Apostles had personally eyewitnessed the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. He then moves on to the quality and attributes of God. He uses the analogy of light vs darkness to show that this pertains to the moral realm of the purity and Character of God.

The purpose of John's message is to show that this is tied into the salvation of those he is writing to and to bring them into fellowship with God and with the Apostles. We can certainly surmise that as John continues, he has those opposing him in mind also. For the lives of those who were opposing him; their conduct was contradictory to their claims of having fellowship with God.

When we come to Christ, genuine change must follow. John homes in on the fact that the lives of his opponents, did not reflect a genuine conversion to Christ. They were still walking in darkness all the while claiming to have fellowship with God. In other words they were Christian in name only. They enjoyed the benefits of being with other Christians without having truly committed their lives to Christ. They had an outward appearance, but void of any real relationship to Christ.

John wants to reassure his readers about their forgiveness of sins committed after having become Christians. This is in stark contrast to the lifestyles of the opponents, of whom profess to have fellowship with God , but deny their profession by their unchanged lifestyle . John reassures us that when we mess up, we can go to God about it, and he will cleanse our hearts just as he did the first hour we believed.

" 9 If we confess our sins"; is what God proclaims dependent on what man says?

I don't think that God is "dependent on what man says" or does to be "faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". I believe believing and living in accordance what with Christ "cleanses us from all sin".

I could have stated that better. God is not dependent on what man says or does; rather, God has set a condition on man by which he will forgive and cleanse.

I believe believing and living in accordance what with Christ "cleanses us from all sin".
Does not living in accordance include confession?

Yes that's what I took from the verse as well. That the "blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin" and he is "faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". And not that even after we become believers and children of God that we are still sinners.

If we still believe we are sinners after God has forgiven us, then how are we even forgiven of sin? His blood must cover all our sin as long as we believe and trust in Him.

So, salvation is conditioned on something man does?
It pleases God to save those who believe; would you say that salvation is conditioned on what man does?

1Cor 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Yes. But what makes man believe that they must confess?
Fear of the Lord, reproof of the Holy Ghost, double-edge sword of the inspired word,

It pleases God to save those who believe; would you say that salvation is conditioned on what man does?

Not to become saved. But saved has to do with God INSIDE of us, and not still on the outside teaching us and drawing us to Christ. Many Christians think they are saved yet are actually in this latter position. They are not born again. These verses are not yet true of them:

1 John 5:18
18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.

1 John 3:1-9
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know [b]us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.

7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

Romans 8:9
9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (Have you experienced being born again?)
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

You teach another gospel and the Apostle Paul says you are anathema. . . accursed.

Galatians 1:1-9

1 Paul, an apostle (not sent from men nor through human agency, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead), 2 and all the brothers who are with me,

To the churches of Galatia:

3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be the glory forevermore. Amen.

6 I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel, 7 which is not just another account; but there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! 9 As we have said before, even now I say again: if anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!

Once cleansed of all unrighteousness we are children of God, because His blood has taken away our sin nature, and we now partake of the divine nature of God. The divine nature of Christ is why He never sinned.

Be careful of the use of the word "cover" rather than "taken away." You can put a tarp over a cesspool to cover it, but it still stinks. But if you dig out the cesspool and take it away, there is no smell now or in the future. The blood of bulls and goats merely covered the sin of the Jews. But it was still there the next year, and had to be covered again with the blood of more bulls and goats. The blood of Jesus TAKES AWAY not only our sin, but the sin nature called the old man and nails it to the cross. Without a sin nature we partake of the divine nature of God. 2 Peter 1:2-4. And we can grow to never stumble 2 Peter 1:10-11.
cover is a very important concept…

the covering is the protection and nature of the soul… example… just as God is to be covering of us and helps us.
We are to be under and IN Christ.

adam sinned and lost that, instead being covered by by the satanic realm… surrounding us. this world as the corrupted reality we are IN…
separated from paradise.

the idea is He to be our context and protection and our covering and not this world anymore will to function as a Self defense.

blood: not this type physical blood …. but the gorgeous nature… the body we will receive at the change from Him …
and then His ones will be righteous… and temples of Him… then.

reunited to their original nature God declared good but what was lost.

both concepts are literal realities.…

When He returns for us soon and we experience His literal nature at the Change
we will not be in these bodies anymore

the two (this fleshbody) and the new gorgeous body of heaven are not compatible

the 144 will be in our gorgeous original bodies
… restored to paradise. that is what is meant by being free of sin.

this current body is flesh…
we cant be righteous here

No one can ever say, they have never done the following since becoming a Christian. Please don't tell me that any of the things listed below are not sins.... because the bible as a whole teaches us these things are sinful. As we fellowship with the Lord more and more and follow the Holy Spirit's leading in our lives, we will find that not only does our view of sin change, but also that we sin less and less as time goes on. And we soon see all the marvelous things God has done in our lives.

In broadly speaking, people don't like to call certain actions sin. Instead, they label them as flaws, mistakes, and shortcomings. Anything but what it really is. In that way.... they can say that they never sin. Lets take sulking for example. True the bible doesn't spell it outright, but Ephesians 4:26 certainly gives us a vivid picture that remaining angry (sulking) is sinful.

Ephesians 4:26,
"In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry

If a person remains angry. for a long period of time, bitterness and resentment take root, robbing you of peace and joy. The list below is exactly what they are... sins. The bible certainly teaches that each of these are individual sins. And ALL of us have done these things since becoming a Christian

Anger, backbiting, expressing unkind thoughts of another, bitterness, boasting, ridiculing another person, complaining about what you can't do, complaining about don't have, contentiousness, foul language, breaking an agreement, covetousness, craftiness (as in wrong doing), deceit, desiring praise from men, causing divisions, double tongued, taking communion in an unworthily manner, envy, desiring something forbidden, provoking someone to anger, fearfulness, anxiousness, not recognizing your own faults, bearing false witness, greediness, hatred, arrogance, hypocrisy, speaking words that have no value, refusing to be appeased, passion or lust, pursuing material possessions, being fond of gratification, selfishness, maliciousness, having bad character, mocking, presumptuousness, pride, puffed up, slandering, stirring up opposition against authority, taking false oaths, unforgiveness, not being thankful, false humility, failing to do something but should have.

But once cleansed, do not let false teachers that are very common today teach you that Jesus failed in His mission to take away your sin BEFORE heaven.

Although you quoted the entire first paragraph of post 4, it seems you read the first sentence and then stopped reading. The majority of scholar's agree that 1 John was written to believers.

The new testament was not complete during the Apostles lifetime, like it is today. And thus, pretenders who taught their own ideas, targeted believers within churches in the Apostles time and were leading people astray. John certainly felt that it was important to set the record straight from what these false teachers were trying to do. John's recap, reassured and strengthen the faithful members of that community, and warned them to continue to resist the efforts of the false teachers who were teaching contrary to the Apostles.

John is simply saying, that genuine believers will not continue practicing sin as a way of life or live the same way as before we were saved. NOT that we are now immune to sin or temptations after receiving salvation. We stumble at times because the lower nature is still within us. Even though we have a new nature in Jesus, we still have to deal with the old nature. We still have to deal with the world around us, with all of its temptations until we get to heaven. Our old nature still wants to sin, but our new nature in Christ fights against it.

Galatians 5:17
For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

Sanctification is not instantaneous. It is ongoing through the work of the Holy Spirit guiding us in becoming more like Christ, and continues throughout our lifetime. A person who claims differently is then saying the Apostles got it all wrong. Because the Apostles teach that there is still the struggle.

Philippians 3:12
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

James is certainly not speaking to unbelievers.

James 3:2
We all stumble in many ways

I agree. thanks

Agreed. "TAKE AWAY" is a better term to describe what Christ done for us.

But there are many who think those verses mean that even after salvation and Christ "taken away" of our sins that believers are still sinners.
I believe that verse 10 just means that it doesn't matter what "we say" or what unbelievers "say" about sin, but it only matters what God proclaims and what Christ does for us in salvation. And He says that; "if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin" and "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

So, who and what are we to believe here; what God proclaims or what "we say" about what Christ done for us? I believe it's the former.

1 John 1-10

The word "practicing" is not in the original. Did Jesus not practice sin, or did He not sin even once?

A multitude of scholars could all be on the wide road, because there are only a few that find it. Do you really believe that 1 John 1:6 is a Christian, even though he does not have God inside him Who is LIGHT.

"We" and "I" are teaching tools that all must examine themselves with. 1 John 1:8-9 are together. The first is not a Christian, but the next verse is how to become a Christian and to be CLEANSED OF ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS. How much unrighteousness or sin is left? Are they still a sinner? Or as 1 John 3:1-3 says, a child of God? Sinners will not go to heaven so chuck those "scholars" and believe Jesus. John 8:32-36.

James 3:2
We all stumble in many ways
2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

You can read pick out part of the message according to mankind's carnal desires if you so choose, but I'll read it according to my fear of the Lord, and His divine power to finish the good work He started in me.

2 Peter 1:10-11:
10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Those who want that "entrance" will exercise the fruit of the Spirit of self-control for assurance, and not gamble away that assurance for the lusts of the flesh.

1 John 3:
2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

1 John 5:18
18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.

1 Peter 1:16
“Be holy, for I am holy.”
