Setting Argumentive Things Aside

Which would be sad. I wil always remember a quote by William Booth:

Most Christians would like to send their recruits ot Bible college for five years. I would like to send them to hell for five minutes. That would do more than anything else to prepare them for a life time of compassionate ministry.

He also prophesied what would happen:

There is a day coming when there will be a religion without repentance, a salvation without the Holy Ghost, a Heaven without Hell.
and
I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell.
Very interesting. To add to what Booth wrote, read the quote from Spurgeon in my signature.

Between 37 and 100 years after the apostles died.
Paul explains it better in 1Cor 10 and 11
Again, your early Christians (second/third generation) are not the same as the apostles and discipled who walked with Jesus.
Passing that 'information' on to the next generation is a good place to start --

Ignatius of Antioch

Take note of those who hold heterodox opinions on the grace of Jesus Christ which has come to us, and see how contrary their opinions are to the mind of God. . . . They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, flesh which suffered for our sins and which that Father, in his goodness, raised up again. They who deny the gift of God are perishing in their disputes (Letter to the Smyrnaeans 6:2-7:1 [A.D. 110]).

Romans 11:1
I say then, Hath God cast away his people?
God forbid. For I also am an Israelite,
of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew.
Wot (know) ye not what the scripture saith of Elias?
how he maketh intercession to God against Israel saying,
Lord, they have killed thy prophets,
and digged down thine altars;
and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
4 But what saith the answer of God unto him?
I have reserved to myself seven thousand men,
who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.

5 Even so then at this present time also
there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

Thank you for posting this;
Arch, thank you;

they tell us there is no record of those that did not bow their knee to Baal;
in the 1st day church
but here they are

by their own words they condemn themselves
Paul explains it better in 1Cor 10 and 11

Written specifically to the Wild, Evil Olive Tree = The Roman Church
Roman ch. 11

4 But what saith the answer of God unto him?
I have reserved to myself seven thousand men,
who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal
.

John says
Rev.2:
And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write;
These things saith the first and the last,
which was dead, and is alive;

9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty,
(but thou art rich)
and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews,
and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying,
he that received the seed into
stony places,
the same is he that heareth the word,
and anon with joy receiveth it;
21 Yet hath he not root in himself,
but dureth for a while:
for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word,
by and by he is offended.

10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer:
behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison,
that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days:
be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

11 He that hath an ear, let him hear
what the Spirit saith unto the churches;
He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death
.

He that hath an ear, let him hear

Do you think you have a better understanding than the early Christians?
Absolutely; we have 2000 years of history to look back on

Deut.32:3w
I will publish the name of the Lord:
ascribe ye greatness unto our God.

4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment:
a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

the Lord: our God. He is the Rock,

the other Rock

For their rock is not as our Rock,

32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom,
and of the fields of Gomorrah:
their grapes are grapes of gall,
their clusters are bitter:

33 Their wine is the poison of dragons,
and the cruel venom of asps.

Lk.6:39
Can the blind lead the blind?
Will they not both fall into a pit?
The student is not above the teacher,
but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.

Arch asks;
do we have a better understanding than the early day

"By their Fruits ye shall know them"

yes Arch;
we have 2,000 years of the ""Fruit" of the RCC to see
by seeing what the "ROCK" and his minions of the RCC are
the words of Moses ring loud and clear

For their rock
and their Vine
is
32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom,
and of the fields of Gomorrah:
their grapes are grapes of gall,
their clusters are bitter:

33 Their wine is the poison of dragons,
and the cruel venom of asps.

Lk.6:39
Can the blind lead the blind?
Will they not both fall into a pit?
The student is not above the teacher,
but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.

we also know what type of men all
those ECF's were, and it wasn't good

Have you never read
The light shines brighter and brighter
till that perfect day
and
now we see thru a glass darkly

all they had was "the light of the moon" to see by

And there appeared a great wonder in heaven;
a woman clothed with the sun,
and the moon under her feet,
and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

but this time will come

And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire:
and them that had gotten the victory over the beast,
and over his image, and over his mark,
and over the number of his name,
stand on the sea of glass,
having the harps of God.

3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God,

Deut 32:44
44 And Moses came and spake
all the words of this song in the ears of the people,
he, and Hoshea the son of Nun.

He is the Rock, his work is perfect:
for all his ways are judgment:
a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
