the original Messianic Judaism?

Essenes, Qumran community, Dead Sea Scrolls, extrabiblical History, testaments of early patriarchs, "the Way"
prophecy, Israel, the Jewish people from a Messianic (Jesus) perspective, "The Chosen" tv series,
Asian noodles, elbow surgery, MLB playoffs, etc etc

"I called there on the name of God saying
'You are God, King of Eternity'...
God spoke to me that night,
'...why wander? You have not reached the holy mountain.'
So I travelled there. I went to the south around Moreh. *
and continued until I came to Hebron. I built part
of Hebron at that time, and stayed there...

A famine occurred over all the land, but I heard there
was food in Egypt.
I travelled toward the land of Egypt, I said to myself,
'Now we are crossing into the land of sons of Ham'."
- testament of Abraham DSS 1Q20

* moreh means "great teacher"
he went around the place of Shem (a sign of respect)
a school and holy place to Abraham
where he had spent significant amount of time with Shem and Eber in his youth

"I laid my hands on his head and prayed for his healing (it says pharaoh of Zoan)
Immediately the evil spirit left, and he and his household were
restored to full health.
...the king gave me many gifts and swore and oath to me that...
he had never defiled (Sarah) in any way. (she had been there two years)
He gave her gold, silver, clothes of fine linen and purple, and
a handmade named Hagar.
He then appointed an escort to take us back to the boarder of Egypt.
Now I, Abraham, left Egypt with a tremendous amount of flocks,
silver, and gold.
Lot, my brother's son, also acquired many flocks and took an Egyptian wife."

I finished thru season 2 recently - love it so far
some really amazing scenes!

I like the License they take with the characters, 'cuz it makes them interesting and relatable
if you ever want to chat about it here, go right ahead
Hey @American Gothic
Have you heard that they've finished filming season 3 of The Chosen? I don't know when it'll be available but soon I hope!!

some says episodes 1&2 will be in Theatres in late-mid November
that might be interesting as I don't TV, Netflix or whatever and wait for the DVDs
and there are some kool old movie houses about

I'm eager to see what happens too!!

Theaters?? I hadn't heard that. I always watched on an app. Well...I guess I'll be waiting for DVD, too.

oh, I think it'll be on TV (was it on TV?), apps or whatever it was before

there's a bit of a trend of some Christian media projects having limited few days theatre release
I saw one of Tim Mahoney's "Pattern of Evidence" films that way

there's a lot of YouTube teaser/making of stuff about as well, but I'm trying to avoid spoilers

just my Idea, I thought it would be interesting to have like 5-6 seasons as they do
and then a full-length film of "passion/Holy week" as some call it (I wonder how they will handle that, if at all)
it's like our Sopranos or Breaking Bad or something :)

Yeah...a marathon would be nice. Anyway...I'm looking forward to the upcoming season. I think TBN was showing it last season.

Sopranos or Breaking Bad
should a Believer watch these kind of shows?
well, we do have freedom in Christ

must a Saved person thus work to maintain their Salvation? no
"Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?" Galatians 3

can Believers really do anything they want? yes
is that a license to sin?
well, as Fruchtenbaum says..."just try it"

"...deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, (yikes!)
that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus." ? 1 Corinthians 5

speaking of Tim Mahoney -
his next film is in theatres the next couple of days (17th and 18th)
I've seen both the Moses and the Pentateuch one and also the Red Sea Miracle one and both were really good
ticket/yr local theatres info thru his Patterns of Evidence website

recently read this book and really enjoyed it
it gives Fruchtenbaum's take on the Arminian - Calvinism debate
with an overview of the positions and different strains within them
interesting for a Jewish Believer he takes what he calls a moderate Calvinist position
he describes it as TUUIP

I agree with this.
This might not be a good thing to say here but...you know the comedian Leslie Jordan who recently died. He was at the height of his success.
He had just made a video singing a hymn and declaring his salvation the day before he died.
Sometimes I think God takes people before they get another chance to mess up.

in the book above -
the premise is that God chose some for special relationships (Abram, the people/Nation of Israel, etc.)
and some were elected in eternity past to have a Believer's relationship
at some point in their life, they will be efficaciously called
they will be brought to, not Faith as a gift, but they Will make a choice for God
because...Matthew 19:26

I agree with this.
I while back I was on Christian Forums
I never post there, just look and for fun I searched your older handle
you had "Messianic" as part of your profile, and I thought that was Kool

I can only describe myself as almost/kinda Messianic but not hard core Messianic. I know that would take a lot of explanation. ?

I used to listen to him on the radio. I don't think there's anything Messianic about him. He's just a Christian with a Lutheran slant as far as I can remember.
